PineDrama: TikTok's short drama app, whether it's free, and what to check
We make TotalShort, a short drama app: we say so wherever it matters. Facts about other apps come from their official App Store and Google Play pages and may change.
In short: PineDrama is TikTok's official short drama app, published by TikTok Pte. Ltd. and released in December 2025. It's big already: 4.85 stars from about 47,750 ratings on the US App Store, and more than 50 million downloads with 4.5 stars from 388K reviews on Google Play. It's free to download. Whether it stays free depends on the store: the App Store listing shows no in-app purchases, while Google Play shows purchases from $2.99 to $199.99 per item. Episodes run 1 to 3 minutes, with subtitles and dubbing. Listings read on October 6, 2026.

What PineDrama is
TikTok's own short drama app
The listing introduces it as "TikTok's Official Short Drama App": trending mini-series in vertical, high-definition episodes, a recommendation feed that learns what you like, and auto-play for binge-watching [1]. The seller on the App Store is TIKTOK PTE. LTD., and on Google Play it's TikTok Pte. Ltd. [1][2]. If the format is new to you, start with what a short drama is.
Episodes, subtitles and dubbing
The developer answers three questions in its own description. Each episode is "about 1 to 3 minutes long". It offers "high-quality subtitles and professional dubbing (including English, Spanish, and more)". And new episodes and mini-series come out regularly [1]. The genres it highlights are modern romance, "empowering drama" with strong female leads, family stories and underdog journeys.
A social layer you won't find in most drama apps
Coming from TikTok, it adds community features: you can like episodes, comment, save shows to a watchlist and follow creators [1]. On Google Play it also mentions reacting and sharing thoughts in real time while you watch [2]. That's closer to TikTok itself than to a classic streaming app.

Is PineDrama free?
What each store shows
On the App Store, PineDrama is listed as free and the listing shows no in-app purchases [1]. On Google Play it's also free to download, but the listing carries the "In-app purchases" label, with items from $2.99 to $199.99 [2]. Neither listing says what those purchases unlock, and the description never mentions coins, subscriptions or prices. Google Play's description does say "Unlock a world of short dramas" [2].
What reviewers say (not confirmed)
Reviews on the App Store most often praise the variety of short, easy-to-watch stories, and most often complain about frequent ads, which some put at every two or three episodes, and about stories that stop without an ending [1]. On Google Play, reviewers also mention playback freezing and watch history being lost [2]. These are users' experiences, not the developer's terms. Note that Google Play doesn't show a "Contains ads" label for PineDrama [2], so take the ad complaints as reports, not as the listing's own statement.
So, is it free?
Free to download and, by most accounts, free to start watching. Whether everything stays free depends on what your store version sells: on Android, items go up to $199.99, so turn on purchase verification before you tap anything that costs money.
Is PineDrama safe?
It's a real app from TikTok
Its publisher is TikTok's own company, and it has tens of millions of downloads on Google Play [2]. It's not a scam app. Like every app from a large social platform, the questions worth asking are about data, not about whether it exists.
What the privacy labels say
On the App Store, the data that may be used to track you includes contact info and identifiers. The data linked to you includes contact info (name, email, phone number, physical address), user content (photos or videos, customer support messages), browsing history, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics [1]. On Google Play, the developer declares that the app may share photos and videos with third parties, may collect location, personal info and six other data types, encrypts data in transit, and lets you request deletion [2]. Read those before you link anything personal, and decline tracking when iOS asks.
Where it's available
PineDrama isn't on the Italian App Store: Apple's own search returned nothing there on October 6, 2026, while it's live in the US [3]. Availability varies by country, so if you can't find it in your store, it may simply not be offered where you are. Don't install it from an APK site to get around that.
The checklist
Seven checks before you pay any short drama app
- Who publishes it?A named developer on the official store listing, not a link from a social post.
- How many ratings?A 4.9 from 200 ratings means less than a 4.7 from 200,000.
- What is the billing period?Weekly, monthly or yearly: it is on the purchase sheet, read it before you confirm.
- Does it renew by itself?Subscriptions renew until you cancel with Apple or Google.
- What does one unlock cost?Turn coins into money before you spend them.
- Is there a free route?Free episodes, bonuses or ads: see how far they really get you.
- Does the age rating fit?Stores rate these apps from 13+ to 18+; check who will watch.
How not to spend more than you meant to
Android: purchase verification
In the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Purchase verification, and require it for every purchase [4]. With items up to $199.99 on the listing, this is the one setting worth doing before your first episode.
Android: budget and family controls
Google's subscription center lets you set a monthly budget and check your payment history [5]. PineDrama is rated Teen with "Diverse Content: Discretion Advised" on Google Play [2]; for a younger user, Family Link can require a parent's approval for purchases.
iPhone: Screen Time
The App Store listing shows no purchases today, but listings change. Blocking in-app purchases in Screen Time (Settings, Screen Time, Apps & Websites, App Store, In-app Purchases, Blocked) costs nothing and covers you if that changes [6].
Who PineDrama suits
You already live on TikTok
The feed, the comments and following creators will feel familiar. It's the drama app that looks most like the platform you know.
You want dubbing, not just subtitles
The description promises professional dubbing in English, Spanish and more [1], which not every short drama app offers. Check the series you want, since it may vary by title.
You care a lot about privacy
Read the privacy labels above first. They're broader than what many viewers expect from a video app.
PineDrama next to other short drama apps
PineDrama isn't in our comparison dataset, which covers seven apps with App Store data read on October 2, 2026. The table helps you compare the alternatives; it isn't a ranking. The TotalShort option
We make TotalShort, so weigh this section accordingly. It's a short drama app with a small catalog: four Italian-set series, made with AI and labeled as such, in episodes of 34 to 64 seconds. The first 8 episodes of every series are free, then one a day per series. Today you watch in your browser at totalshort.com, on iPhone, Android or a computer, with no sign-up and no account to link.
The arithmetic of finishing a TotalShort series
- 8 episodes
- freeevery series
- Episodes 9–12
- 4 × 30 coins= 120 coins = €1.20
- Or the free daily episode
- 1 per series per dayfree in 4 days
- VIP break-even
- €5.99 ÷ €0.30≈ 20 paid episodes a week
Coins are worth €0.01 each. Prices of coin packs and VIP are shown in the app before every purchase. They are in euros; on the US App Store the weekly VIP is set at $5.99, and the store always shows your country’s price before you pay.
The honest limits: four series is nothing next to PineDrama's library, there are no live actors, and our iPhone and Android apps are coming soon. To see whether the format works for you, try episode 1 of If I Could Do It All Again.
How to cancel anything you bought
If you subscribe to anything in PineDrama, you cancel it with the store that bills you, not in the app.
Where to tap to cancel
iPhone and iPad
- Settings
- Your name, at the top
- Subscriptions
- The app’s subscription
- Cancel Subscription
Android
- Play Store
- Profile picture, top right
- Payments & subscriptions
- Subscriptions
- The app’s subscription
- Cancel subscription
Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. On iPhone you may have to scroll to see the button, and an expiration message in red means it is already cancelled. Can’t find it? On iPhone, look for the Apple receipt in your email to see which Apple Account paid; on Android it may be on another Google account, so switch accounts in the Play Store.

Deleting the app cancels nothing, and refunds are up to Apple or Google Play [7][8]. Our cancellation guide covers every case.
Common mistakes
Assuming both stores sell the same thing
The App Store listing shows no purchases; Google Play shows items up to $199.99. Read the listing for the store you actually use.
Skipping the privacy labels because it's "just TikTok"
The labels list contact info, photos or videos and browsing history. Decide what you're comfortable sharing before you start.
Installing an APK where it isn't available
If PineDrama isn't in your country's store, an APK from a download site skips the store's checks. Wait, or pick an app that is available.
Expecting every series to be finished
Reviewers say some stories stop without an ending, and the description says episodes are released regularly. A series may still be in progress; check the episode count before you get attached.
Frequently asked questions
Is PineDrama free?
It's free to download on both stores. On the App Store the listing shows no in-app purchases, as read on October 6, 2026 [1]. On Google Play the listing carries the "In-app purchases" label with items from $2.99 to $199.99, without saying what they unlock [2]. The description never mentions coins or subscriptions. Reviewers on the App Store say ads are frequent, though Google Play shows no "Contains ads" label. So: free to start, with purchases possible on Android. Turn on Google Play's purchase verification before you watch [4].
Is PineDrama made by TikTok?
Yes. The App Store seller is TIKTOK PTE. LTD. and the Google Play developer is TikTok Pte. Ltd., and the description calls it "TikTok's Official Short Drama App" [1][2]. It came out in December 2025 and quickly reached more than 50 million downloads on Google Play. The community features, like comments, likes and following creators, reflect that origin.
Is PineDrama safe?
It's a real app from TikTok's own company, installed from the official stores, so it isn't a scam. The safety question is data. The App Store privacy label lists contact info and identifiers among the data that may be used to track you, and contact info, photos or videos, browsing history and usage data among the data linked to you [1]. On Google Play the developer declares the app may share photos and videos with third parties [2]. Read those, decline tracking if you prefer, and don't install it from APK sites.
How long are PineDrama episodes?
About 1 to 3 minutes each, according to the developer's own FAQ in the listing [1]. That's a little longer than some short drama apps that build around one-minute episodes, and short enough to watch several on a commute. Auto-play moves you straight to the next one, which is how a "few minutes" turns into an evening, so set yourself a stopping point.
Does PineDrama have subtitles and dubbing?
The description says it offers "high-quality subtitles and professional dubbing (including English, Spanish, and more)" [1]. That's a promise for the app overall; what's available can vary by series, so check the language options in the player of the show you want. The interface itself is listed in dozens of languages on the App Store.
Is PineDrama available in my country?
It depends on where you are. It's live on the US App Store and Google Play, but on October 6, 2026 Apple's search found no PineDrama on the Italian App Store [3]. If it doesn't show up in your store, it likely isn't offered in your country yet. Avoid APK download sites as a workaround: they skip the store's checks and can carry modified builds.
Why do some PineDrama stories have no ending?
Some reviewers complain that stories stop before the end [1][2]. The listing doesn't explain why. The description says new episodes and mini-series are released regularly, so a series may simply still be coming out. Before you invest in one, look at how many episodes are out and whether the series is marked complete.
How do I cancel a PineDrama purchase or subscription?
Not inside the app. On Android: Play Store, profile picture, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, PineDrama, Cancel subscription [8]. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, PineDrama, Cancel Subscription [7]. One-off purchases don't renew; refund requests go to Google Play or Apple. Deleting the app cancels nothing. Our cancellation guide has the full steps.
