DramaShorts app: is it free, what it costs and how to cancel

We make TotalShort, a short drama app: we say so wherever it matters. Facts about other apps come from their official App Store and Google Play pages and may change.

In short: DramaShorts is a real short drama app. Brailion Ventures Limited publishes it, the US App Store shows 4.4 from 19K ratings, and it's rated 16+. The description says the first episodes are free and each episode lasts about a minute. After that you pay: the US listing shows coin packs from $4.99 to $24.99, "Weekly Coins" at $4.99, $11.99 and $19.99, and "Full Access" at $19.99 and $39.99. The listing doesn't say how many coins an episode costs or how long Full Access lasts, so read both on the purchase sheet before you confirm. Listing read on October 6, 2026.

What the DramaShorts app is

What the developer says it is

DramaShorts calls itself "the home of addictive short drama series designed for mobile viewing": vertical episodes that last about a minute, made for quick breaks and binge watching [1]. You pick a series and unlock episodes at your own pace, and the description says the first episodes are free. New to the format? Start with what a short drama is.

The kind of stories it carries

The genres the listing names are mafia romance, billionaire drama, werewolf and lycan mate romance, forbidden love and age-gap drama, college romance and dark romance. Among its top series it lists "The Mafia Boss", "Reluctant Billionaire Protector", "Rejecting My Lycan Mate" and "The Maid is The True Heiress" [1]. If those tropes are your thing, you'll know within the free episodes.

The facts we could verify

Everything below comes from the official App Store listings, read on October 6, 2026 [1][2].

Item What the listing says

Italian rating 4.0 out of 5, 702 ratings
Age rating 16+
Price Free, with in-app purchases
Interface languages English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish

Category Entertainment

The 16+ rating sits above the 13+ of most of the apps we compare. If a teenager will use the phone, weigh that first.

How much DramaShorts costs

Every purchase on the US listing

Purchase Listed price
Coins $4.99, $9.99, $14.99, $24.99
Weekly Coins $4.99, $11.99, $19.99
Full Access $19.99, $39.99

The Italian listing shows the same three kinds of purchase in euros: coins from €5.99 to €29.99, Weekly Coins at €5.99 and Full Access at €9.99, €22.99 and €44.99 [2]. Prices change by country; your own purchase sheet is the one that counts.

What the names tell you, and what they don't

"Weekly Coins" says it in the name: it's a weekly purchase, so expect it to renew every week until you cancel. What the listing doesn't say is how many coins each pack or weekly refill gives you, how many coins an episode costs, or how long Full Access lasts. Without those numbers you can't price a series from the listing, and we won't guess.

What reviewers say (not confirmed)

Reviews on the US listing keep returning to the same complaints: prices that feel high, a model that mixes subscriptions and coins in a confusing way, long waits between free episodes, and storylines that repeat [1]. Some reviewers put an episode at around 100 coins. None of that is in the developer's description, so treat it as a reason to check the per-episode cost in the app before you buy, not as a fact.

The weekly arithmetic

If Weekly Coins at $19.99 renews every week, as its name suggests, four weeks cost 4 × $19.99 = $79.96 and a year 52 × $19.99 = $1,039.48. At $4.99 a week, a year is 52 × $4.99 = $259.48. The small weekly price is the one people forget about, which is exactly why it adds up.

Is DramaShorts free?

What's free, per the listing

Downloading is free, and the description says "the first episodes are free, so you can explore new series" [1]. How many episodes that means isn't stated and may change from series to series, so you find out when you open one. The listing also promises you can "start watching short dramas for free — no commitment needed": true for the opening episodes, but not for finishing a series.

Watching for free without getting burned

Watch the free episodes, then stop for a day before you buy anything. Skip modded versions and "free coins" sites: they aren't official and they put your account at risk. The legal ways to watch without paying, app by app, are in our guide to free short dramas.

Is DramaShorts legit and safe?

Why it's a real app

It has a named publisher, about 19K ratings in the US and 700 in Italy, and charges that go through Apple or Google rather than an unknown payment page [1][2]. That makes it legit in the sense that matters for your money. Whether a series is worth what you pay is a separate question, and the real risk is a weekly purchase renewing while you're not looking.

What the privacy label says

According to the privacy section of the US listing, identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and the data linked to you includes purchases, contact info, user content, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics [1]. If tracking bothers you, decline it when iOS asks on first launch.

A checklist to run yourself

Seven checks before you pay any short drama app

  1. Who publishes it?A named developer on the official store listing, not a link from a social post.
  2. How many ratings?A 4.9 from 200 ratings means less than a 4.7 from 200,000.
  3. What is the billing period?Weekly, monthly or yearly: it is on the purchase sheet, read it before you confirm.
  4. Does it renew by itself?Subscriptions renew until you cancel with Apple or Google.
  5. What does one unlock cost?Turn coins into money before you spend them.
  6. Is there a free route?Free episodes, bonuses or ads: see how far they really get you.
  7. Does the age rating fit?Stores rate these apps from 13+ to 18+; check who will watch.

How not to spend more than you meant to

iPhone: block in-app purchases

Open Settings, tap Screen Time, then Apps & Websites, then App Store, tap In-app Purchases and choose Blocked [3]. Unblock them only on the evening you mean to buy. With Family Sharing, Ask to Buy sends every request to an adult.

Android: purchase verification and a budget

In the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Purchase verification, and require it for every purchase [4]. Google's subscription center puts all your subscriptions in one place and lets you set a monthly budget [5].

The reminder rule

The day you buy Weekly Coins or Full Access, put a reminder in your calendar two days before it renews. It's the cheapest habit there is.

Who DramaShorts suits, and who should look elsewhere

You love mafia, billionaire and werewolf romance

That's the core of the catalog the listing describes [1]. Use the free episodes to find the one series you'd actually finish before paying for anything.

You watch a few episodes now and then

A one-off coin pack is more predictable than anything with "weekly" in its name. Start with the smallest pack and check what an episode really costs.

You're buying for a teenager

It's rated 16+. Decide whether that fits, then turn on Ask to Buy or block in-app purchases before installing.

You want it in another language

The interface comes in seven languages [1], but the description doesn't promise dubbing or full subtitles in each one. Some reviewers on the Italian listing say subtitles stop after the first episodes of a series, which we can't confirm [2]. Check the first episode of the series you want before paying.

The TotalShort option

We make TotalShort, so weigh this section accordingly. It's a short drama app with a small catalog: four Italian-set series, made with AI and labeled as such, in episodes of 34 to 64 seconds. The first 8 episodes of every series are free, then one a day per series, and today you watch in your browser at totalshort.com with no sign-up.

The arithmetic of finishing a TotalShort series

8 episodes
freeevery series
Episodes 9–12
4 × 30 coins= 120 coins = €1.20
Or the free daily episode
1 per series per dayfree in 4 days
VIP break-even
€5.99 ÷ €0.30≈ 20 paid episodes a week

Coins are worth €0.01 each. Prices of coin packs and VIP are shown in the app before every purchase. They are in euros; on the US App Store the weekly VIP is set at $5.99, and the store always shows your country’s price before you pay.

The honest limits: four series is nothing next to DramaShorts' catalog, there are no live actors, and the iPhone and Android apps are coming soon, not yet downloadable. To see whether the format works for you before paying anyone, try episode 1 of My Contract Wife.

How to cancel DramaShorts

You don't cancel inside the app. You cancel with the store that bills you, Apple or Google.

Where to tap to cancel

iPhone and iPad

  1. Settings
  2. Your name, at the top
  3. Subscriptions
  4. The app’s subscription
  5. Cancel Subscription

Android

  1. Play Store
  2. Profile picture, top right
  3. Payments & subscriptions
  4. Subscriptions
  5. The app’s subscription
  6. Cancel subscription

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. On iPhone you may have to scroll to see the button, and an expiration message in red means it is already cancelled. Can’t find it? On iPhone, look for the Apple receipt in your email to see which Apple Account paid; on Android it may be on another Google account, so switch accounts in the Play Store.

What happens next

You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and deleting the app cancels nothing. Refunds are up to Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play, not DramaShorts [6][7]. Our cancellation guide covers every case, including "I can't find the subscription".

Common mistakes

Treating "Weekly Coins" like a one-off pack

The word weekly is in the name for a reason. If you only wanted coins once, pick a plain "Coins" pack.

Reading the Full Access price without the period

$39.99 a week and $39.99 a year are wildly different spends. Read the billing period on Apple's or Google's sheet before you look at the price.

Buying coins before you know what an episode costs

Check how many coins the next episode takes before you buy the pack, not after.

Deleting the app to stop paying

Deleting the app doesn't touch a subscription. Cancel it in Apple's or Google's settings.

Waiting until the renewal day

Apple advises cancelling a free trial at least 24 hours before it ends [6]. Cancel as soon as you decide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the DramaShorts app?

It's a short drama app: vertical series with episodes of about a minute, built for your phone, according to the developer's own description [1]. The publisher on the App Store is Brailion Ventures Limited, the app is rated 16+, and the US listing shows 4.4 from 19K ratings. Its catalog leans on mafia, billionaire, werewolf and forbidden-love romance, with series such as "The Mafia Boss" and "Rejecting My Lycan Mate". It's free to download, the first episodes are free, and after that you pay with coins, weekly coins or Full Access. Our guide to what a short drama is explains the format.

Is DramaShorts free?

Partly. The download is free and the description says the first episodes are free so you can explore new series [1]. How many episodes are free isn't stated and may vary by series. To keep watching you need coins, a Weekly Coins purchase or Full Access. The listing's line "start watching short dramas for free — no commitment needed" is true for the opening episodes, not for finishing a series. For comparison, on TotalShort the first 8 episodes of every series are free and one more unlocks each day.

Is DramaShorts legit?

Yes, in the sense that matters: it's a real app from a named publisher, Brailion Ventures Limited, with about 19K ratings in the US, and payments handled by Apple or Google [1]. That doesn't mean every series is worth the price. Reviewers often complain about high prices and a confusing mix of coins and subscriptions, which is a reason to check the per-episode cost before buying. Install it only from the App Store or Google Play, and set a purchase limit before your first payment.

How much does DramaShorts cost?

On the US listing read on October 6, 2026: coins at $4.99, $9.99, $14.99 and $24.99; Weekly Coins at $4.99, $11.99 and $19.99; Full Access at $19.99 and $39.99 [1]. The listing doesn't give the coin cost of an episode or the period of Full Access, so you can't price a series in advance. Some reviewers put an episode at around 100 coins, which we can't confirm. Weekly Coins at $19.99, kept for a year, would come to $1,039.48. Read the billing period on Apple's or Google's sheet before you pay.

How many coins is an episode on DramaShorts?

The developer's description doesn't say [1]. Some reviewers report around 100 coins per episode, but that's their experience, not a published price, and it can vary by series. The only reliable number is the one on the unlock screen of the episode you're about to open. Look at it before you buy a pack, and if the cost per episode surprises you, stop there: the free episodes have already told you whether the series is worth it.

Is DramaShorts safe for kids?

It's rated 16+ on the App Store [1], above the 13+ of most short drama apps, and its genres include dark romance and obsession. If a younger teen will use the phone, weigh that rating first. On iPhone, Ask to Buy or blocking in-app purchases in Screen Time prevents surprise spending [3]; on Android, Google Play purchase verification does the same [4]. Set these up before installing.

How do I cancel DramaShorts?

Not in the app. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, DramaShorts, Cancel Subscription; an expiration date in red means it's already cancelled [6]. On Android: Play Store, profile picture, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, DramaShorts, Cancel subscription [7]. Deleting the app cancels nothing. You keep access until the end of the paid period, and cancelling at least a day before renewal avoids the next charge. Ask Apple or Google Play for refunds. Our cancellation guide covers the rest.

Is DramaShorts the same as DramaBox or ReelShort?

No. They're separate apps from different publishers. DramaShorts is published by Brailion Ventures Limited [1]; DramaBox and ReelShort have their own publishers, catalogs and prices, which we compare in ReelShort vs DramaBox. The names sound alike because they all describe the same format: short vertical drama episodes for your phone. Before paying, check the publisher name on the store page so you know which app you're actually installing.
