At her father's funeral, Gaia learns that the family lemon grove on the Amalfi Coast now belongs to Vera, his second wife, who hands her an apron and makes her a maid in her own home. On Sunday Vera sells it to a hotel, and the deal will be signed by Raffaele, the young notary Vera wants for her daughter. But Gaia's father wrote another will before he died.

Signora... I came for the documents.
She robbed my mother's safe, notary.
Bye, maid. Leave the apron.

Because I know every tree out there. She doesn't know one.
Without that paper, it's your word against hers.
Then tonight... she'll burn it.
